Family. That was the answer a forward-thinking couple provided when asked what was most important in the design of their new lake home in southern Indiana. The desire to create a generational destination for their children, parents and future grandchildren was paramount while also crafting an easy to maintain and sustainably integrated project. Nestled on the serene shores of Grandview Lake in Columbus, Indiana, the project design parti employs an efficient floor plan, organized around its vertical circulation. This bifurcated plan allows for a linear layout of the public family spaces that stretch toward the lake, while the more private bedroom functions are compactly stacked away from the daytime activity. This layout, and the focused placement of large expanses of high- performance glazing systems, allow for multiple visual interaction points and controlled views to the lake front and natural landscape while still providing a comfortable, intimate interior character.
