LAKE MACBRIDE
Residential – Single Family
2022
Solon, IA
Positioned along more than 200 feet of shoreline at Lake MacBride and facing the public beach across the water, this residence was designed to serve as both retreat and backdrop within its civic landscape. The home’s scale is thoughtfully moderated through a series of four brick-clad gable forms that overlap across the site, breaking down the overall mass into a layered, approachable composition. Oriented to heighten the experience between lake and home, the plan is anchored by sunrise and sunset patios that extend living outward. Expansive glazing, double-height dormers, and multiple points of connection to the landscape dissolve the threshold between interior and exterior—creating a continuous dialogue between architecture, light, and water.
